We reported in an earlier post that New Haven would host BikeSummer 2007, a weeks-long celebration of cycling. Still no details on what it will entail, but the organizers of the event have apparently kicked in some cash and announced the news on their Web site.

Next week is the National Bike Summit in Washington, D.C. Cyclists from all across the country will descend on the nation’s Capitol to promote cycling and fight for their rights.

TeamMoMa has announced an April Fool’s Day alleycat race in New Haven. An alleycat is an urban bike race in which competitors choose their own route between designated checkpoints. Generally held at night, it’s designed to mimic the difficult urban conditions faced by bike messengers. More details to come.

Take back the streets

Join other New Haven cyclists to take back the streets during rush hour this Friday, Feb. 23. Part protest, part rally and part party, Critical Mass is held on the last Friday of every month at 5:30 p.m. Just show up with your bike at the flagpole on the New Haven Green.
